Product Overview
The Performance Series is handcrafted in the California Custom Shop. These custom-quality drums are now available with 100% Birch shells for a limited time. Birch is a favorite among studio drummers and engineers, striking the perfect balance between crisp articulation and warm tone. Suitable for many styles of music, Birch offers a sharp attack, short sustain, and balanced resonance. These Birch shells feature HVX' (horizontal-vertical-diagonal) grain orientation that ensures versatility and a complete musical instrument. The tom and bass drum shells feature eight plies of Birch with 45- and 60-degree back cut bearing edges, while snare drums feature 10 plies with a 45-degree back cut edge. This series offers similar hardware features to the Collector's Series, including Suspended Tom Mounts (STM), quarter-sized turret lugs, and graduated triple-flange counter hoops. Performance Series bass drums offer matching Birch hoops and low-mass claw hooks, while all drums are equipped with TruePitch 30 tuning tension rods. This configuration features 8x10" and 9x12" mounted toms, 14x16" floor tom, 18x22" bass drum, and a matching 6.5x14" snare drum as an add-on. *

Bearing Edge
HVX™ shells are precision-cut with 45-degree (toms) and 60-degree (bass and snare) edges. These edges provide tonality and sustain from your toms, and depth and punch from your bass and snare.
